$1.8M in NCUA Grants Available to Low Income Credit Unions

Financial literacy, product development, collaborative projects, staff and board training, office relocation and computer modernization are examples of initiatives that are eligible for grants being made available to low-income credit unions by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

Grant amounts range from $3,000 to $24,000 depending on the initiative. The grant application window opens June 17 and closes July 12. Grant approval announcements will be made by the end of August.

“These grants provide critical assistance to low-income designated credit unions so they can better meet the evolving financial needs of their members,” said Debbie Matz, NCUA Chair.

The grant money was approved by Congress, through the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF). Since 2001, Congress has appropriated $10.4 million for CDRLF grants.

More information and applications for the funding can be found online.
