Northwest Credit Unions Win Excellence Awards at the 19th Annual CUNA HR/TD Council Conference

Move over clean air lovers, cyclists and foodies. Continuing the current trend of excellence in the Northwest, two regional credit unions snag awards at the prestigious Credit Union National Association (CUNA) HR/TD Council Excellence Awards Conference. The Excellence awards are presented every year to recognize credit unions for their important work in human resources and training disciplines. The awards also reflect the credit unions’ ability to promote credit union philosophies through people leadership. During this year’s conference, April 21-24 in Anaheim, Calif., both Maps Credit Union in Salem, Ore. (Assets less than $499M) and Red Canoe Credit Union of Longview, Wash. (assets $500M-$1B) won the HR/Training Development Awards for Management Practices.

Maps Credit Union was awarded the honor based on their “To the Olympics and Beyond/Health and Wellness” Program. The Program was a multi-year implementation of a comprehensive wellness initiative concluding with companywide “Walk to the London Olympics”.

The “Commit to be Fit” Program, sponsored by Red Canoe Credit Union, was also a multi-year fitness program that focused on whole body wellness with a yearlong commitment to personal happiness.

“The HR/TD Council Excellence Award recognizes and honors credit unions that exemplify excellence in HR and training & development in the credit union industry,” said Jennifer Huggard, chair of the Awards Committee for the CUNA HR/TD Council. “Credit unions that receive these awards should be extremely proud of their accomplishments and know that their work represents outstanding examples of Employee Engagement, Management Practices and Strategic Leadership. The CUNA HR/TD Council is proud to celebrate those who are deserving of this recognition.”

Overall, eight winners were honored with Excellence Awards in the categories of Employee Engagement, HR/TD Management Practices and HR/TD Strategic Leadership. For more information on the 2013 Excellence Awards, go to www.cunahrtdcouncil.com. Click on the “Award & Recognition Program” link.
