Services Scheduled Saturday for Former State Employees Credit Union CEO Larry Queen

Larry Queen, former President and CEO of State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) in Salem, Ore, passed away at the age of 70 last Friday.  Memorial services are scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at the South Salem Church of the Nazarene.

Queen was born on July 19, 1942 in Topeka, Kansas, but grew up in Tiffin, Ohio.  He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18 and was a Vietnam War veteran.

Queen spent most of his professional career in the credit union environment and successfully helped transition SECU through its merger with First Tech Federal Credit Union in 2008. On his watch, SECU was an active contributor to community causes such as Credit Unions for Kids and the Oregon Food Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynda, his son Brian, daughters Heather and Carrianne and nine grandchildren.
