“We’re putting the fun back in fundraising,“ declares the promotion for the Game of Life event April 25.
This is the second annual Game of Life fundraiser for Financial Beginnings, a 501(c)(3) organization that trains volunteers to offer financial education to middle school students, high school students and other young adults. Founded in 2005, Financial Beginnings now touches 12,000 students and young adults each year.
The Game of Life night replaced a formal dinner fundraiser in 2012, and was so successful that organizers decided to stay with the interactive, family-friendly event. The admission price—$35 for guests and $25 for volunteers and educators—buys attendees several chances to play carnival type games, each offering a financial component such as a question or factoid. Prizes are possible at each game. Grand prizes include a signed Timbers jersey, winery tours, a foodie fun package and tickets to many of Portland’s favorite cultural attractions.
The Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) is again a co-sponsor of the fundraiser. Point West and OnPoint Community credit unions are also sponsors.
Tickets are available online. The Game of Life takes place from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. April 25 at the Urban Studio, 935 NW Davis Street in downtown Portland.
