Marketers in the C-Suite on Marketers’ Conference Agenda

Credit union marketing teams are challenged with communicating and selling credit unions’ brands, community positions and products, yet they are not always involved in developing the strategy from the ground up.

The disconnect between marketers and product development can be particularly frustrating, as products are often selected without marketers’ input or understanding.

A panel of credit union CEOs whose marketers have a seat at the table in the C-suite will share the “secret sauce” during the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) Marketers’ Conference in Portland May 8-9.

The panel includes Mandy Jones from Oregon Community Credit Union in Eugene, Ore.; Dave Spaulding from Longview, Wash.-based Red Canoe Credit Union; and Geri LaChance from SESLOC Federal Credit Union in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

The benefits of early inclusion are obvious—marketers’ input will help to head off potential missteps, and once the plan is agreed on, the “sell” to members will be stronger.

Experienced marketers are also potential candidates for upward mobility in credit unions, having had the 360 degree view of all the moving pieces and parts. The CEO panel will also offer sage advice to marketers about other disciplines they should learn and additional duties they should take on to help both the credit union and their careers.

The two-day conference features a dynamic group of speakers including Maya Bordeau, a nationally renowned credit union marketer who founded Attune LLC. In addition to taking a deep dive into the psychology of marketing, Bordeau is sharing insight into the science of viral video marketing.

Fresh off a pilot project that could generate as many as one million views, Bordeau will share the case-study results for the first time with attendees to the conference. In addition to having a proven track record for turning research findings into successful marketing results, Bordeau is highly regarded for her engaging presentation style. Another conference highlight will be the Spectrum Marketing Awards dinner May 8. Nearly 100 entries came in from Northwest credit unions, showcasing their best public relations, advertising, social media and other communications efforts. Judging has just been completed and winners will receive preliminary notification next week.

The Conference takes place at the historic Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Portland, and discount registration is available at $369 until April 12, 2013. Registration fees increase to $419 after April 12.
