Performs a variety of duties in the collection of delinquent accounts, creation of debt management plans, repossessions, file documentation and maintenance, correspondence, charge off accounts, small claims, garnishments, bankruptcy and recoveries. The chosen applicant must be able to work independently with little supervision or effectively within a group. Must have knowledge of current laws pertaining to collections and bankruptcy. Works closely with the Credit and Security Officer to support the monitoring and control of the delinquency ratio.

  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills necessary for telephone collection inquiries and resolution
  • Excellent written communication skills; proficient use of grammar and demonstrated ability in business-form and letter writing
  • Execute tasks with accuracy, neatness and confidentiality
  • Must be detailed oriented; handling multiple tasks at one time
  • Must consistently communicate the Credit Union’s philosophy of “people helping people” through positive approach to all member relations
  • Reliable attendance; punctuality
  • Aptitude to adopt and apply new knowledge quickly
  • Trained to read credit reports; inquiry, interpretation, decoding, revising and reporting
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Must be goal oriented

Education and Experience Required:

  • Familiarity with Credit Union Compliance/NCUA Regulations and other laws applicable to financial institutions
  • Minimum high school graduate, additional education in related field preferred
  • Must have previous collection experience
