Streifel, Stang to Serve on CUNA Board of Directors

Susan Streifel, President/CEO of Federal Way-based Woodstone Credit Union, has been reelected to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board of Directors.  Streifel, who also serves on CUNA’s Executive Committee, is currently Treasurer of the board.

Streifel won a second, three-year “Class A” term, allowing her to share the prospective of smaller credit unions with less than 23.000 members.

“It is an honor and I am humbled to once again be elected to represent District 6, Class A credit unions,” said Streifel. “I believe we must stand vigilant to protect our not-for-profit financial cooperative structure and embracing new opportunities for change in appropriate ways—ones that will enhance the growth and vitality of the credit union movement.”

Joining Streifel on the 2013 CUNA Board is Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) President and CEO Troy Stang. Stang was nominated for the post by NWCUA Board Chair Debie Keesee, and his nomination was seconded by his counterparts in the leagues representing credit unions in Idaho, Hawaii and California/Nevada.

“I am pleased to serve on the CUNA board. Our Northwest credit unions value the partnership that CUNA and the NWCUA provide,” said Stang. “Together with Susan, we’ll work to leverage our Northwest voice and influence on behalf of all credit unions.”

The CUNA Board of Directors are volunteers and are elected by their credit union peers.

Stang and Streifel’s three-year terms begin February 25, 2013. They are representing credit unions in District 6, which includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, American Samoa, Guam, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll and Wake Atoll.
