Keep Sprint in Your Members’ Minds

In this economically challenging time, the Sprints Credit Union Member Discount Program, available through Strategic Link business partner Invest in America, provides a simple way for credit unions to improve their bottom lines and enhance the value of membership.

The Sprint program is simple. It essentially gives credit unions the opportunity to offer members discounted cell phone service through Sprint in exchange for completing four simple marketing mandates. The program also offers credit unions an avenue to earn non-interest income, as Sprint pays each participating credit union for its promotional efforts at the end of the year.

Keep Sprint in Your Members’ Minds

The annual Sprint marketing incentives are generated from overall member usage—which is a good reason for credit unions to work to keep the program at the top of their members’ minds. The more the Sprint Credit Union Member Discount is taken advantage of at a given credit union, the more the members save and the higher the incentives become for the credit union.

Marketing Requirements of the Sprint Credit Union Member Discount program:

  • Promote Sprint service exclusively;
  • Include a quarterly statement insert at least once per contract year—both print and electronic are available;
  • Continuously display Sprint lobby materials—both print and digital are available;
  • Publish approved newsletter articles at least twice per contract year; and
  • Display approved Sprint banner ad and link on credit union website.

Credit unions can also keep Sprint growing in a number of ways, including through statement messaging, posters, teaming up with your local Sprint stores for lobby events, adding the discount to the benefits of credit union employment, and much more. Through Sprint Port-In Promotion, Members Earn More

Members who switch to Sprint from a competitive provider can now earn a $100 service credit for each newly activated line of service on top of the 10-percent monthly discount for credit union members.

  1. The offer is valid through Dec. 31, 2012.
  2. Members can visit LoveMyCreditUnion.org/Sprint for details on the 10-percent discount on select monthly services plans and waived activation fee. Application of the discount requires a two-year contract extension on existing plans, and verification of membership is required at time of activation or upgrade. The discount not available on secondary lines for Family and Business Share plans.
  3. Upon activation, members must visit www.sprint.com/promo/iL29171PC within 72 hours of port-in activation to request the service credit.

Make Sure Your Members Keep Receiving Their Sprint Discount

To ensure the continued integrity of the Sprint Credit Union Member Discount, members must periodically provide documentation to help verify their eligibility to receive the discount. Verification will help to ensure that members continue to receive the great benefits that Sprint extends to members.

New Sprint customers need to fill out a verification form within 30 days of activation. Current credit union Sprint customers are required to provide proof of discount eligibility (credit union membership) when upgrading their device if it has been 20 or more months since their last validation.

The validation process is very simple and takes just a few minutes to complete. However, it is important to note that if a member comes across an area that indicates that they can verify by email, this is not a viable option. Members must use the fax or upload processes to verify their membership.

Now is the time for credit unions to renew their contracts for the 2012-2013 contract year if they have not already done so, by completing the Renewal/Order Form on the Sprint Marketing Materials page of the IIA Partner Center. The form should be emailed to IIASupport@cusolutionsgroup.com or faxed to 800.341.9160.
