Senior Mortgage Loan Processor

Reports To: AVP RE Lending

Role at SMUC: Responsible for the quality and timely processing of first mortgages.

Essential Job Functions:

• Performs all phases of processing Conventional, Construction, FHA and VA mortgage loans.
• Processes loans in a timely manner with very few audit exceptions.
• Processed loan packages to meet investor, SMCU and PMI guidelines.
• Insures the loan packages are accurate and compliant with State and Federal Regulations.
• Works closely with Underwriters, Loan Officers and Closers.
• Monitors and maintains pipeline
• Provides member status updates as needed or requested.

Other duties may be assigned.

Working Conditions

• Work is generally performed in an office environment.  May be required to attend off-hours meetings and seminars
• Indirect exposure to robbery.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

• Must also be able to handle a pipeline of 40 +/- files and have them fully processed within 20 days for final loan approval with accuracy.
• Ability to comprehend and clear AUS conditions/findings.
• Strong communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize daily work to meet deadlines and adjust to last minute changes.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of and experience with FNMA/FHLMC, FHA and VA guidelines.
• Ability to listen to questions and concerns and respond appropriately and accurately.
• Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude when under pressure.
• Strong computer skills.

• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of the Secondary Market.
• Basic underwriting skills (review appraisals, title and tax returns)

Experience/Education:

• High school level or greater. 
• Minimum three years of experience processing investor quality first mortgage loans.
