Vice President of Lending

Tulip is a community based local not-for-profit credit union seeking a Vice President of Lending to help grow our loan portfolio and contribute to the leadership of the credit union. This is a grant-funded two-year position with potential for renewal. We are seeking an outgoing, organized and personable professional who wants to help make a difference in our community. Our mission is to serve low-income residents of Thurston County but we have an extremely diverse membership base including more affluent members who want to give back to their community. Primary Purpose of the Position: .The VP of Lending plays a key role in Tuilp’s leadership as the credit union advances to the next level of growth. The VP of Lending develops relationships with vendors that generate loans for goods and services purchased by credit union members. This key position works with the board and management to set goals to grow the credit union’s loan portfolio and net income while providing loan services to members and cultivatating relationships with potential members to drive loan growth. Researches new loan products and provides recommendations to board and management on loan products and services. Works toward and assists in the positive image and growth of the credit union.
MAJOR DUTY AREAS
New Loan Services Deployment (60%) Responsible for developing a network of vendor relationships that bring loans directly to the credit union. Generate leads and drive loan growth. Researches, develops and implements new loan products and services that meets the strategic plan, loan policy, and regulations. Cross-sells credit union products. Keeps up-to-date on all credit union products and services, policies and procedures, and rules and regulations. Keeps up-to-date on industry news, regulations and trends in lending for credit unions.
Ensures that all loans have proper documentation for regulatory compliance (RESPA, REG Z, etc.)
Consumer Lending Services (10%)
Handles consumer loans of moderate complexity, value, or risk. Gathers background information on loan applicants by interviewing loan applicants and obtaining credit bureau reports. Verifies debts, and estimates monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed on application.
Analysis and Problem Solving (10%)
Responds to members’ requests, problems, and complaints, resolves issues, and directs them to the appropriate staff member for specific information and assistance.
Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (5%)
As necessary, prepares required Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). Complies with the regulations surrounding the Bank Secrecy Act.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or a GED and an advanced understanding of basic math, spelling, reading, and letter writing principles.
Holds an agent’s license for the sale of credit insurance. This is required within 180 days of employment.
Holds a notary commission within 180 days of employment.
Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

High level of verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge of financial and banking industry
Is able to negotiate stairs to reach both levels of the Branch, if applicable.
Is able to lift and carry 20 lb. boxes.
Is able to sit for at least two hours at a time.
Ability to work at a variety of locations around Thurston County and use a mobile workstation.
Working in the financial industry has an increased risk of exposure to crimes such as armored robbery.
