Junior Mortgage Loan Officer

Oregon Community Credit Union has an opening for a Junior Mortgage Loan Officer to join our high performing team in our Eugene Corporate Offices.  This Junior MLO will advise borrowers on financial status and payment methods; assist members with their mortgage lending needs; analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on mortgage lending policy. Candidates should have two to five years of similar or related experience, including experience in mortgage lending, as well as marketing and/or sales.  Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is required.

Location: Eugene

Pay: $2,690 per month base plus commission

Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet Credit Union, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, and governmental standards. Approve or reject loan application, or request additional information. Establish terms and conditions of an approved loan and review with member.
  • Manage pipeline to ensure timely and accurate responses to members.  Establish and maintain relationships with realtors. Market the Credit Union’s real estate services to the community by participating in or attending real estate focused meetings. Also expected to cold call, send out mailers, and attend outside community functions to ensure new business.   
  • Keep informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending. Prepare and present educational seminars for realtors on credit union real estate products.
  • Keep abreast of products and services offered by Oregon Community Credit Union and other financial institutions. Act as a resource to assist members in determining which type of real estate product best suits the situation. Cross-sell credit union services to increase overall aggregate balances. 
  • Perform key real estate servicing related processes including subordinations, modifications, account transfers and detailed research on revised loans. 
  • Perform post-funding audits, prepare vault files and review regulatory requirements. 
  • Create Real Estate loan forms and maintain loan document database. Type and format procedures, presentations, and other materials. Process and reconcile monthly billings for title companies and appraisers. 
  • Assist processors in all related duties as needed. 
  • Direct members and employees, by phone or in person, to appropriate staff in the Department. Answer member inquiries regarding existing real estate loans, the credit union, and CU services. 
  • Prepare real estate pay-off requests and process payments. Terminate credit limits on HELOC loans as necessary. Process deposits and transfers for real estate. Perform appropriate morning and evening duties for doing daily transactions. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Two years to five years of similar or related experience. This includes experience in mortgage lending, as well as marketing and/or sales. 

Education:

Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or work experience.
