NWCUA to Host Credit Union Town Hall with Rep. Suzanne Bonamici

The Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) will host a credit union town hall discussion with Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 9 a.m.

“Our goal is to have at least 50 credit union advocates and representatives in attendance,” said NWCUA Vice President of Legislative Advocacy Jennifer Wagner. “If you live, work or have a branch in the 1st Congressional District, we hope you will plan to attend and to encourage your colleagues to join you.” Wagner added that the Association hopes to have a representative present from all credit unions in Oregon’s 1st Congressional District, and that credit union advocates outside the district are invited to attend as well.

Bonamici, elected eight months ago with credit union support, has quickly established herself as a credit union champion, co-sponsoring both of the movement’s priority bills in Congress: H.R. 1418, which would increase the member business lending (MBL) cap, and H.R. 3993, which would allow the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to approve supplemental capital for well-managed credit unions.

“This is your opportunity to meet Congresswoman Bonamici,” Wagner said, “to hear about her experience thus far in Congress, her goals going forward and to ask your questions of her.
