A unique partnership between Rogue Federal Credit Union and Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) allows Helen Funk, Rogue’s director of member services, to add duties as director of support services for WCMS.
Rogue President and CEO Gene Pelham and James Likens, president and CEO of WCMS, announced that Funk will replace Nancy Wood at WCMS in assuming the dual role. Wood now serves as the school’s director of school administration.
Funk, a 2011 graduate of WCMS, will help to develop a communications strategy for the school, manage interaction between students, credit union leagues and alumni, and work to establish a social media presence for WCMS. Serving a credit union and a high-level management school would prove daunting for most professionals, but for Funk, there is more: She also joins the board of the Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) this fall.
“I feel enthusiastic and honored for our credit union that Helen has been offered this opportunity,” said Pelham.
WCMS is an intensive credit union education program designed for managers and upper-level operational staff, with students attending two-week terms on the campus of Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., over the course of three consecutive summers.
“It’s truly an honor to be a staff member of Western CUNA Management School,” Funk said. “I was given a gift to be able to attend WCMS, and I have gained so much through the process. I am looking forward to giving back and having the opportunity to build our future leaders of the credit union movement through WCMS.”
Likens added that he is delighted to have a professional with Funk’s ability and commitment at WCMS.
In addition to her education at WCMS, Funk holds a bachelors degree in psychology and sociology from Appalachian State University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She completed master training with Rapport Leadership International.
She lives in Medford with her husband and three daughters.
