Save the Date for Miracle Jeans Day 2012

Your opportunity to once again get comfortable for a good cause is just around the corner, as thousands of individuals and companies across North America will raise money for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital by trading in their traditional work attire for jeans on Sept. 12.

The annual fundraising event, known as Miracle Jeans Day, is simple—a $5 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the primary beneficiary of Credit Unions for Kids, buys the right to wear jeans for a day. Credit union members can also donate $1 to have their name displayed on a Miracle Jeans Day paper icon in their local credit union branch.

Since 2009, Miracle Jeans Day has raised more than $1.4 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Just last year, more than 1,500 businesses participated, raising more than $700,000 to help kids receive desperately needed life-saving care. And all funds raised through Miracle Jeans Day stay local, benefitting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the community where the money was donated.

Credit Unions for Kids is the comprehensive fundraising vehicle for the credit union movement, with proceeds benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The collaborative effort includes individual credit unions, local chapters, state and league associations, two national trade organizations, business partners and several trade publications.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, meanwhile, raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America, with donations helping support areas such as research and training, the purchase of equipment, and uncompensated care, all in support of an ambitious but simple mission: to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

Seattle-area credit unions recently set an ambitious goal to raise $50,000 to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital by the end of 2012, and Miracle Jeans Day is just one of a number of initiatives credit unions are using as part of their fundraising efforts. Additional resources and information are available on the Credit Unions for Kids website.
