Operations Manager

Verity Credit Union is seeking a full time Operations Manager to lead our Auburn Branch.  Position maintains overall responsibility for daily operations of the branch, along with the coaching and development of branch staff.  Ensures compliance with Verity’s policies, procedures, security measures and applicable laws.  Has extensive contact with members and conducts relationships in a manner that enhances the standard of quality member service for the credit union.  Works closely with the Relationship Manager and/or Marketing to achieve assigned strategic sales branch goals.  Works on objectives assigned by the Senior VP of Operations.  Participates in the Operations Management team and makes recommendations as appropriate.        

Position reports to the Senior VP of Operations and supervises Operations Assistant Manager and Member Service Representatives.  This is an exempt position.  Branch hours are Monday-Thursday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am- 6:00 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Ability to travel Verity Headquarters in North Seattle required.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operations

  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulations and demonstrate compliance with set standards
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of Verity’s systems, technology, policies and procedures to be a branch expert for others
  • Implement and maintain procedures to ensure efficient, consistent, and quality member service both internally and externally
  • Have extensive member contact, solve problems, and use discretion in resolving disputes
  • Responsible for maintaining quality branch operations and to ensure satisfactory audits by Internal Audit
  • Keep Senior VP of Operations informed of department activities, needs, and problems to include assessing and advising on staff (personal or performance) issues
  • Maintain security of physical premises; branch assets (cash, negotiable items, furniture, fixtures, and equipment); members’ accounts
  • Knowledge and adherence to Verity’s robbery procedures
  • Assume loan officer duties for consumer lending, notary, signature guarantor
  • Open new accounts for members that span Verity’s products and services.  Loads mortgage loans to be processed by the Home Loan Center.
  • Assumes duties as other branch staff as needed, such as Relationship Manager/Associate, or Member Service Rep, to ensure adequate operations.  
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Human Resources

  • Maintains staffing for branch by assisting in interviewing and hiring talented people
  • Prepare and present timely performance evaluations
  • Provide adequate training for all staff for improved standard of quality member service
  • Coach and mentor staff for personal professional growth
  • Maintain monthly staff one-on-ones
  • Maintain monthly or semi monthly branch meetings
  • Give employee recognition
  • Perform employee counseling, documentation, and discipline according to credit union standards in a timely manner
  • Maintain staff spirit / morale as through professional dress, celebration of success and participation in promotions

Finance

  • Understand and assist in establishing and meeting branch annual budget to meet goals and monitor expenditures
  • Basic knowledge of credit union financial statements and other reports

Sales

  • Promote a sales culture and maintain a highly motivated staff to assure attainment of our strategic goals
  • Educate staff as to the goals and specifics of promotions
  • Maintain monthly sales one-on-ones with staff to establish individual staff expectations and sales goals
  • Participate in community events relating to Verity Credit Union

Working Conditions

  • May be required to attend off-hours and off-site meetings
  • May be required to work Saturday hours
  • Traveling will be required for meetings and possible off site training classes

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a financial institution or related experience
  • Experience in a position involving extensive public contact
  • Experience in training and motivating others
  • Post secondary course work in business, communications, and lending or equivalent experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and good organizational skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet work deadlines

  • Extensive knowledge of financial industry regulations and standards

  • Knowledge of loan policies and procedures and fundamentals of lending concepts
  • Knowledge of financial industry regulations and standards
