The IRS Hosts Two Free Webinars in May

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is hosting a pair of free webinars in May to help financial institutions stay safe, sound and compliant.

The first of the free webinars, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, will focus on identity theft and online fraud. The session will cover a new initiative to combat identity theft: the Identity Protection Personal Identification Number, or IP PIN. It will also detail what the IRS is doing to address identity theft and measures to take to aid in preventing identity theft.

The second webinar, presented by iBank in partnership with the IRS, is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, and centers on the area of employment law. Specifically, it will cover how to determine if a worker is an employee or an independent contractor. This determination has many implications, both for tax treatment as well as other claims related to employment, such as worker’s compensation and employment discrimination.
