Member Service Representative 3 – Indirect Sales

Unitus Community Credit Union is seeking a full-time Member Service Representative 3- Indirect Sales, in our Planning & Business Development department. This position is located at our headquarters in downtown Portland. The Indirect Sales position is responsible for creating profitable relationships with members joining Unitus through indirect channels. The position would focus on contacting members with the objective of deepening the relationship through additional products and services.


Proactively contact new members that have joined through indirect channels by utilizing outbound phone calls, email, sending sales materials and conducting the Pathway sales process with them to determine product need and to market appropriate Unitus products and services to increase cross sell and service to the member.
Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services handled or promoted by Member Services and Credit Services.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge related to credit union guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Resolve related matters concerning members and the credit union in a frank yet tactful manner by collecting data, securing answers, following up on details and discussing sensitive personal financial circumstances on the telephone.
Provide information on the telephone regarding new and on-going marketing promotions to cross sell all Credit Union products and services effectively.
Proactively provide information appropriate to member need.  Evaluate requests and discuss alternatives and advocate for the members to meet needs.
Identify and coordinate opportunities with other departments maximizing their expertise and cooperation to fulfill corporate objectives.
Utilizing a sales tracking software program (such as Salesforce) to identify sales leads and new memberships relationships, and track results of efforts.
Perform additional duties as required for the efficient operations of the Planning and Business Development department


  • High School Diploma
  • One to three years of sales experience
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • Excellent time management skills; the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to use host system such as Symitar  (frequently)
  • Ability to use CRM  (frequently)
  • Excel
  • Ability to use Velocity
  • Ability to use New Member Application

Ability to adapt to a wide range of job responsibilities and be flexible in performing varied job duties.
Maintain punctuality, tact, thoroughness, and professionalism in representing Unitus and able to demonstrate good communication, member service, and human relation skills.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a team player while using good discretion in decision-making, sound judgment, and problem solving.
Ability to conduct needs assessments, identify problems, develop solutions, and take appropriate course of action as an advocate for members.
