Kevin Foster-Keddie, President/CEO of Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU), has been named to the Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) Board of Trustees.
WCMS offers a rigorous, all-encompassing credit union education designed for managers and upper-level operational staff, and students attend two-week terms over the course of three consecutive summers. The faculty is composed of professors and attorneys as well as respected credit union professionals and consultants.
The board—comprising nine credit union CEOs, two league presidents, the WCMS president, and WCMS provost—is responsible for oversight and direction of the school.
Nine credit union CEOs, including Rogue Federal Credit Union’s Gene Pelham, currently serve on the 13-member board. They are joined by Northwest Credit Union Association President Troy Stang and Diana Dykstra, President/CEO of the California/Nevada Credit Union League, as well as the WCMS president and the WCMS provost.
Foster-Keddie is a graduate of the Madison, Wis., installment of the CUNA Management School and will be serving on the WCMS curriculum committee.
“Those who know my interests know that I love to learn new things,” Foster-Keddie said. “I am always researching new ideas. My most recent area of interest is something called complexity science. My co-workers thought the subject a little funny—until the Harvard Business Review devoted the entire September 2011 issue to the subject. I am leading a seminar in 2012 on its application to business planning and strategy. I am looking forward to working with the board on the school curriculum and other subjects.”
Foster-Keddie has been a frequent recipient of industry recognition and accolades, including CUNA’s Bergengren Award for High Achievement and the California Credit Union League’s Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award.
“Kevin’s long-time involvement with the credit union movement as well as his knowledge of WCMS makes him a great addition to the board,” said Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, chairman of the WCMS Board of Trustees and President/CEO of Travis Credit Union in Vacaville, Calif.
