NWCUA Chapters Schedule October Meetings

With an eye on fostering a sense of collaboration and community within the credit union family, member credit unions of the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) are organized into chapters. Each chapter is made up of credit unions based on geographic boundaries, which were determined by the NWCUA Board of Directors. Serving as a critical link between the NWCUA and the credit unions, chapters fill many roles, including voicing the views and concerns of local credit unions and providing a grassroots legislative link.

Upcoming chapter meetings include: 


Eastern Oregon Chapter
The Eastern Oregon Chapter will be meeting in Richland, Wash., on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, for a jet boat ride on the Columbia River. Attendees should arrive at Columbia River Journeys to load the boat at 10:45 a.m., with the boat departing at 11 a.m. for the Hanford Reach National Monument Tour. The midway will take place over a buffet-style lunch beginning around 1 p.m.

Mt. Hood Chapter
At the Oct. 6 meeting of the Mt. Hood Chapter, Pam Leavitt will discuss advocacy topics concerning credit unions and advancing the credit union agenda in the coming year. Pam will also moderate a panel of legislators among various topics, and elections for open chapter positions will be held. Credit union delegates must be present to vote.

The meeting will be held at the Refectory Restaurant (1618 NE 122nd, Portland, OR), with networking beginning at 5:30 p.m. and dinner being served at 6:15 p.m. The menu will consist of vegetarian or meat lasagna, garlic bread, Caesar salad and a German chocolate cake, with a cost of $20 for members and $30 for non-members. Payment should be made on the day of the event, and checks can be made payable to “Mt. Hood Chapter.”

Evergreen Chapter
The Evergreen Chapter will be electing board members in its inaugural meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at River’s Edge (4611 Tumwater Valley Dr. SE, Olympia, WA).

In addition to the election, the meeting will cover chapter business and offer networking opportunities with other regional credit union leaders. NWCUA President Troy Stang will be the featured presenter.

The cost is $25 per person, and attendees are asked to RSVP to eccu@theparagongroup.com by Oct. 14.


Snohomish County Chapter
The Snohomish County Chapter will meet on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, with a theme of “Exceeding Customers’ Expectations.” The event will kick off with a half-hour of networking beginning at 11:30 a.m., with lunch being served at noon to coincide with featured speaker Brad Worthley’s presentation. Brad Worthley is an accomplished consultant and behavior change specialist with over 37 years of business management experience. He is also an internationally acclaimed leadership, customer service and motivational expert.

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn in downtown Everett, Wash. (3105 Pine St.) and costs $25 per person. Attendees are asked to register and pay for the meeting at www.scccreditunions.com no later than Oct. 17.

Snohomish County Chapter is also currently accepting nominations to fill board positions. Anyone interested in nominating a candidate or in being nominated should contact Board President Vikki Strand (vikki.strand@becu.org) or any other current board member. Additional board members include:
