Small Credit Unions Invited to NWCUA Collaborative Roundtables

Regulations, compliance, resources, the economy and competition are familiar challenges for all credit unions, but they can be especially difficult for smaller operations. Credit unions with less than $100 million in assets are invited to collaborate to find solutions at one of three upcoming Small Credit Union Roundtables hosted by the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA).

The roundtables will take place Oct. 11-13, with a focal point on the issues unique to the business environment of small credit unions. Locations in Spokane, Wash., Federal Way, Wash., and Beaverton, Ore., have been selected.

Attendees will gain insight into economic issues impacting rates and consumer behavior, Foundation grant opportunities, small credit union pressures and opportunities. Compliance “hot topics” that specifically impact smaller credit unions will be discussed as well. CEOs will be able to compare their compensation to industry standards when the latest CEO salary data is shared onsite.

“These gatherings are your meetings, and accordingly you dictate the agenda,” NWCUA CEO John Annaloro said in reference to the leaders of small credit unions, who are invited to suggest topics for discussion prior to the meetings. “Many of you have already expressed interest in issues of regulatory relationships,” he noted, adding that regional regulators are being invited for candid dialogue where better future protocols might result.

 “We know for some CEOs at small credit unions, it’s hard to get a day out of the office but it’s so worth it to attend,” saids NWCUA President Troy Stang, adding that larger credit unions have stepped up to help manage at smaller credit unions if the CEO is out for a roundtable.

There is no charge for attendance, and a networking lunch is being provided by the CUNA Mutual Group. Each event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Attendees are invited to both register and suggest additional topics in the Programs & Events section of the NWCUA website.
