The schedule for the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) Convention and Annual Business Meeting is packed with breakout sessions, speakers and networking opportunities, but attendees should make sure their itinerary includes the joint Foundation Friendraiser Event, presented by both the Washington and Oregon Credit Union Foundations. This event is free to all participating convention registrants (with a small donation requested by our exhibitors to attend) and includes delectable desserts along with entertainment provided by singing impressionist/comedian Larry G. Jones, with all proceeds supporting both the Oregon and Washington Credit Union Foundations.
The Friendraiser also includes the much-anticipated Silent Bottle Auction, which gives members a great reason to both be creative and donate to the Foundations. Prior to the event, participating donors place items inside of a decorated bottle (as to conceal the prize), provide a brief clue of the item, and submit their bottles at the Convention Registration Desk for bidding. The top five bottles with the highest values will be featured in the Foundations section of ‘The Lounge’ during the NWCUA Convention Trade Show.
Those interested in participating in the Silent Bottle Auction should fill out the registration form. Upon submission of the information requested, please download the Foundation Friendraiser Silent Bottle Auction Form, which will need to accompany the decorated bottle when it is turned in at the NWCUA Registration desk.
The Foundation staff will be collecting RSVP’s for up to thirty (30) bottle entries, with a deadline to submit your information of Fri., Sept. 9, 2011.
Proceeds from the event will help the Oregon and Washington Credit Union Foundations not only continue to provide resources to the credit union community, but also to continue their collective commitment to promote credit union development, improve financial independence, and support social responsibility.
The OCUF and WCUF are currently working to support credit unions affected by Hurricane Irene through CUAid.
The Oregon and Washington Credit Union Foundations, along with the National Credit Union Foundation, have activated the online disaster relief system CUAid.coop to raise money for credit union people along the East Coast affected by Hurricane Irene. Credit union supporters in every state can now make donations through a secured website that accepts credit cards and wire transfers.
CUAid is the only program of its kind that enables credit union employees, volunteers, and members, as well as credit unions and credit union organizations across the United States, to contribute directly to support others involved in the credit union movement. As donations are posted through CUAid.coop, NCUF will coordinate with the credit union leagues in the disaster area to distribute money efficiently to affected credit union employees and members.
