NWCUA’s 2011 HR Legal Update Offers HR Strategies for Credit Unions

As the industry moves forward in an unpredictable economic climate, it is increasingly important that credit unions implement human resource (HR) strategies that foster a productive and litigation-free institution.

With that in mind, the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) is encouraging members to attend the 2011 HR Legal Update. Experts will share techniques to help members avoid risk of litigation, and they will discuss the common mistakes that lead to class action suits and inconsistent policy. The HR Legal Update will also offer a fresh overview on federal and state leave laws and will help members take HR actions which prevent employee retaliation and ensure a non-hostile and non-discriminatory work environment.

This is a rare opportunity to learn from industry experts about the practices that will keep credit unions operating safely and soundly while moving toward a thriving future.

Specific program topics include:

  • Documentation – Strengthening Your Case for Termination or Discipline
  • Navigating Wage and Hour Laws – Tips for Financial Institutions to Keep the Target off Your Back
  • Leave Laws: Emerging Issues and Best Practices
  • New Developments in Labor and Employment Law that Every Manager Needs to Know
  • Ten Best Strategies for Managers to Protect the Workplace from Discrimination Claims

Sessions will take place in November, both in Federal Way, Wash., and Portland, Ore. Specific details can be found below, as well as at nwcua.org, where you can also register for the event.
