Congresswoman Co-sponsors MBL Bill
July 12, 2011
July 12, 2011
Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA 3) will be the first member of the Washington delegation to co-sponsor legislation to increase the member business lending cap (House Resolution 1418).
This is a big win for credit unions and will be great leverage to get other members from the Northwest delegation on board.
Congresswoman Herrera Beutler will no doubt receive a lot of backlash from the banks for her co-sponsorship. It is important that she also hear from credit unions, showing our appreciation for her public support and willingness to stand up for credit unions and small businesses that need capital. If you live in the 3rd District, please take a minute to write, call or email her with your thanks (email is only available through her website):

Please reference Congresswoman Herrera Beutler’s co-sponsorship and ask your member to join her in supporting this important bill.
In other news, Congress has a one-track mind this week—an agreement on the debt ceiling issue. Leadership in the House of Representatives has cancelled next week’s scheduled recess to deal with the issue, which must be resolved by August 2.
