NWCUA Supporting Credit Unions with Fraud Alerts

The Association has been delivering fraud alerts to credit unions in Oregon and Washington to ensure they are aware of various robberies and attempts in the area.

This service, which also covers scams and other attempted fraud schemes that other credit unions have recently experienced, is only sent to those who request it and is sent out about six times a month, depending on activity.

To receive Fraud Alerts or for questions, contact the Compliance Hotline: 1.800.546.4465, compliance@nwcua.org.

Recent fraud alerts provided notification about an attempted robbery where the offenders hid in a dumpster in an attempt to jump branch opening employees. Others have information on a phone phishing attempt and even attempts to open an account using a POA for a brother or son who is incarcerated out of state.

This service pulls together updates from credit unions, FBI and police reports, news items, and the Financial Institutions Security Task Force (FIST).
