Compliance Question of the Week

Not really for social security representative payees. Their only duty is to accept and oversee the social security benefit payments of the beneficiary. They have no other duty and would not be able to negotiate other checks that were made out to the beneficiary.

In addition, the only funds that should come into a rep payee account are those from the SSA.

A POA, guardian, or conservator would be able to negotiate those checks depending upon the powers that were granted to them.
