Carol Schillios in Running for CU Hero of the Year Award
Carol Schillios, founder of the Schillios Consulting Group and Fabric for Life, has been nominated for the Credit Union Magazine’s CU Hero of the Year Award.
The winner will be chosen by an online ballot. Voting ends May 13. This year’s winner will be honored at CUNA’s America’s Credit Union Conference & Expo (ACUC), in San Antonio, June 19-21, and will receive free conference registration and lodging.
You can vote for the winner here.
The other nominees are:
- Ron Amstutz, executive vice president, Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, Ariz.;
- Michael Bittle, CEO, Vanderbilt University Employees’ Credit Union, Nashville, Tenn.; and

Pierce County Chapter Meeting Reminder
Washington’s Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions is hosting a luncheon to discuss effective management strategies. Roger Savy, Director of Business Development with Absolute Mortgage, will discuss critical mistakes managers make and how to prevent them. The event will be held at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club on Tuesday, April 26 beginning at noon.

Pierce County Chapter will also be hosting a “Restaurant Take-Over” at Joeseppi’s Italian Ristorante in Tacoma on Sunday, May 22 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A portion of food sales, including take-out orders, will go toward Multicare’s Tree House charitable organization, which provides housing for parents whose children are at Tacoma General Hospital’s intensive care units.

Southern Oregon Chapter Announces May Meeting
The Southern Oregon Chapter will be hosting a meeting on May 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Brent Mak, head of the canine handlers with the Medford Police Department, will demonstrate how the dogs are trained and how they assist in robbery investigations. The cost is $25 per person and dinner will be served. The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 10.

Capitol Chapter May Meeting Notice
