CU for Kids Raises $135,000 for Children’s Hospital

The CU for Kids Wine Auction announced that they raised more than $135,000 from their ninth annual wine auction on April 15, which will go to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Ore.

These funds will support new facilities, equipment, research programs, patient services, special patient needs, and health education programs.

“I’m always pleased by the generosity of our friends and vendors who support this event,” said Roger Michaelis, the CEO of iQ Credit Union, which was the leading sponsor and coordinator of the auction. “We are having a positive impact on the lives of many children.”

The event, held at the Governor Hotel in Portland, is part of the Children’s Miracle Network, an umbrella group that supports children’s hospitals across the country through local donations. Hundreds of bottles of wine were auctioned off for this cause, while pianist Marcia Ball played “groove-laden” blues and R&B.

Sponsors of the event include iQ Credit Union, CO-OP Financial Services, FSCC, Allied Solutions, CUNA Mutual Group, OnPoint Community Credit Union, BECU, Columbia Credit Union, CUDL, and Boyce Financial Group.

The Association was also a sponsor and volunteer support for the event, while the Oregon and Washington Foundations gave a donation in the form of a bid.

The CU for Kids program was formed in 1996. Since then, Northwest credit unions alone have donated over $4 million in the past five years to Oregon and Washington area children’s hospitals through the program.
