The inaugural gatherings of the Northwest Executive Summit are next week and registration is still available.
The Summit will bring together credit union CEOs from across the region for a day of networking and discussion on the movement today and its future. The agenda currently includes an update on the Association and its efforts, an NCUA Region V update, and presentations by leading officials from the US Small Business Administration (SBA), Oregon Business Development Department, and USDA Rural Development.
“These federal and state government agencies provide loan guarantees, gap financing, and similar programs in support of business finance,” says USDA Rural Development Business & Cooperative Program Director Jeff Deisse. “The presentations will demystify various programs and demonstrate how readily these programs can be incorporated into a credit union business lending strategy so as to mitigate risk, preserve capital, and increase profitability.”
Some programs to be covered are SBA 7(a) guarantees, USDA B&I guarantees, and the Oregon Business Development Fund.
There will also be a presentation by the Evolution Task Force, a group of Oregon and Washington credit union luminaries charged with forecasting how the charter must evolve for credit unions to thrive for years to come. This will include a larger discussion of supplemental capital and its role in the movement.
