NWCUA Meets with State and Federal Examiners

The Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) recently hosted a meeting for all Oregon-based state and federal credit union examiners. With regulatory advocacy being one of the Association’s top strategic objectives, it was an invaluable opportunity for dialog, helping to ensure ongoing conversation between credit unions and regulators.

The meeting of over 20 participants covered the gamut of topics from member business lending and risk management to changes at NWCUA and the role of NCUA examiners during joint exams. One interesting area of discussion revolved around troubled debt restructuring (TDR). As most of you know there is a lot of confusion around the issue and what does and does not constitute a TDR. We learned that FASB may soon be offering more guidance, hopefully helping to further clarify the issue.

All participants left the meeting with greater understanding and new perspectives.
