Calcoe Federal Credit Union and Horizon Credit Union were recognized at the CUNA National Awards reception last week in Washington, D.C. For a fundraiser and financial literacy efforts, respectively.
Calcoe Federal Credit Union received plaudits as the Washington State winner of the DORA Maxwell Award for its Skip-A-Pay Program to support Children’s Village. The credit union allowed members to skip a payment during the holidays without it being charged against their allotted extensions in exchange for a donation to Children’s Village.
The effort raised $1,911 for the program which exceeded their target goal of $1,500.
Horizon Credit Union was recognized for its state Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award for its High School Partnership initiative. As a part of Horizon’s youth outreach efforts the credit union used a strategy of building partnerships with local schools and district offices to build relationships around a foundation of financial literacy.
Susan Streifl of Woodstone Credit Union served as emcee of the event as CUNA’s Awards Committee Chair.
Congratulations to all Northwest Credit Union Association members for their outstanding efforts.
