Staff and members at Peninsula Credit Union have been terribly saddened and moved by the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Some of them and their members have friends and family in Japan who are facing tremendous challenges. In an effort to assist the ongoing rescue, cleanup and humanitarian efforts, Peninsula Credit Union is providing several ways that their members can help.
A local artist and Peninsula Credit Union member, Yoshiko Yamamoto, approached them with the opportunity to display commemorative block prints that she hopes will inspire the public to donate to EMPACT Northwest.
Donations of $30 or more made to EMPACT Northwest will receive a gift of a beautiful 7-1/2 inches by 10-1/2” limited edition print depicting majestic Matsushima Bay on the Northwest coast of Japan prior to the recent tsunami.
EMPACT Northwest is a charitable non-profit organization comprised of medical professionals providing disaster relief, medical education and ongoing medical aid to communities in need. All donations go toward helping the victims of the current disaster in Japan.
Prints will be available in Peninsula branches beginning on March 29, 2011. Members can make donations at their local Peninsula Credit Union branch or online at follow a link at www.pcfcu.org. Online donations may require shipping and handling fees and any applicable tax.
Additionally, Peninsula Credit Union is waving international wire fees for their members sending money to Japan.
This offer is effective immediately and will last through the end of May.
