Columbia Credit Union Named SBA Credit Union Lender of the Year
Columbia Credit Union has been named the SBA (Small Business Administration) Credit Union Lender of the Year in the Portland, Oregon district – an area covering 30 counties in Oregon and four counties in Southwest Washington. The credit union was among the top 2009 financial services institutions chosen for their demonstrated commitment to small business during times of economic difficulty and credit shortages.
Numerica Awarded for Hispanic Community Leadership Excellence
Numerica Credit Union was recently named “2010 Outstanding Chamber Member of the Year” by the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (TCHCC), at the 2010 Tri-Cities Area Hispanic Leadership Excellence Awards Gala.
Numerica received one of only six Leadership Excellence Awards, given annually by the TCHCC, to local Hispanic individuals, select businesses and advocates who have achieved or contributed to leadership excellence. The awards pay tribute to those who have made a measurable impact on the quality of life of the local Hispanic community.
GaPac Credit Union Rescues Kids Festival
The Bellingham Herald reported that GaPac Credit Union has stepped up to become the sole sponsor of a 20-year-old childrens’ event that was previously cancelled due to budget cuts. Ironically, according to the report, the event was first started by local credit unions working with the Bellingham Parks Department.
Gesa Sponsors Local Event
The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reported that Gesa Credit Union is the title sponsor of the popular Balloon Stampede. With the sponsorship comes naming rights and the event is now known as the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede Presented by Gesa Credit Union.
HAPO to Sponsor Several Local Events
The Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business reported that HAPO Credit Union is set to sponsor four local and very popular events this summer. This is the second year HAPO has sponsored the events that include Live@5, Cool Desert Nights, the River of Fire Festival, and the Water Follies Air Show.
YVCU Hires Mortgage Loan Manager
The Yakima Valley Business Times reported that Yakima Valley Credit Union recently hired Bill Quick as its new mortgage loan manager to oversee the credit union’s mortgage loan division. Quick has over 10 years experience and was the vice president of mortgage lending for WSECU.
Quimper’s Monroe Earns Financial Counselor Designation
Quimper Community FCU’s Kymberlee Monroe was among 28 credit union professionals to recently earn their financial counselor designation (CCUFC) in March.
To become a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor, participants must either attend CUNA’s Certified Financial Counselor School: Part I & II or complete the self-study Credit Union Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP) Module.
Credit Unions of Washington-Sponsored Film Earns Emmy Nomination
The Bellevue Reporter reported that the Credit Unions of Washington-sponsored “Kites Over Washington” short film earned a regional Emmy Nomination in the special event coverage category. Read the story on the Reporter’s website.
