Verity Promotes Two
The Seattle Times reported that Verity Credit Union promoted Shari Storm to Senior Vice President and Justin Martin to Director of Human Resources and Training.
Salal Credit Union Hires Sheryl Kirchmeier as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
Salal Credit Union announced that Sheryl Kirchmeier has been hired as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. In her new role, Kirchmeier directs Salal’s retail marketing, brand management, business development, advertising, product development and promotion to meet the credit union’s strategic plan objectives and brings more than 25 years of experience to the credit union.
Financial Advisor at Sound Credit Union Earns CFP® Designation
Paul Stevick, financial advisor with Sound Credit Union through CUSO Financial Services, L.P., has recently earned his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The program has a national pass rate of 52 percent. In addition to his recent CFP® designation, Paul has over 11 years of experience within the financial services industry and holds FINRA licenses which allow him to advise individuals on various financial topics that affect personal or business lives.
Global CU on Track to Save Members $1/2 Million
At the end of the second month of their six month campaign to save members half a million dollars in half a year, Global Credit Union announced that it has passed the halfway mark with over $258,000 in savings through member education of lower interest rate options available by refinancing consumer loans. Savings are calculated using the Federal Reserve’s Credit Card Repayment Calculator.
In one case, a credit union member saved $55,879 by transferring another financial institution’s credit card balance of $3,400 at a staggering 23% APR to a much lower 8.9% APR at the credit union.
WECU Donates $17,300
The Bellingham Herald reported that in July WECU, through its social responsibility committee, made $17,300 in donations to 17 community organizations.
HAPO CU one of Three Organizations Sponsoring Event
The Sunnyside Daily News reported that HAPO Credit Union is one of three organizations sponsoring a community family outing called “The Final Funktier,” featuring music, food and family fun. HAPO co-sponsors include the Sunnyside Police Department and the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce.
Global CU Sponsors 2010 Skyfest at Fairchild AFB
Global Credit Union was a major sponsor of the 2010 Skyfest at Fairchild Air Force Base. Global has a full service branch on the base with historical ties to the credit union named Fairchild Federal Credit Union at its inception in 1954. Skyfest 2010 had over 20,000 attendees who were treated to the precision aerial acrobatics of the world famous US Air Force Thunderbirds, the US Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet West Coast Demo Team and many more high flying aerial teams. On the ground the Global booth provided an opportunity to share the credit union difference with these potential members.
Washington State Legislature Website Wins Award
The Washington Legislature for the first time has been honored by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) for having a superior legislative website. The website won for providing extensive information that is simple to find and understand, for its easy and accurate search function, downloadable web services, and for student pages geared to different grade levels.
Global Honored by Troops
Global Credit Union’s Camp Darby branch in Tirrenia, Italy, was recently presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from Lieutenant Colonel Roger McCreery, 3rd Battalion 405th Army Field Support Brigade.
GaPac Community Federal Credit Union Saves Kids’ Festival
Bellingham Kids’ Festival will continue to be a free family event that showcases businesses and agencies serving children in Whatcom County thanks to GaPac Credit Union. Earlier this spring, Bellingham Parks and Recreation announced that Kids’ Fest did not have funding available. The announcement was met with widespread community concern, at least until GaPac Community FCU generously stepped forward with a $10,000 donation. The popular annual event started in 1989, and has grown to see more than 4,000 visitors annually.
The new partnership has become a resolution to support the hard-working Bellingham community. The Festival includes a variety of field and carnival games, inflatable play equipment, guest performers, food, music, and many more special surprises! Everything at Kids’ Fest is FREE to the public.
Horizon Provides Financial Education to Summer PLUS program
Coeur d’Alene children enrolled in the Summer PLUS (Playing and Learning Under Supervision) childcare program will get a head start on their financial education with the help of Horizon Credit Union. The Summer PLUS program is offered to students in grades kindergarten through sixth grades in Coeur d’ Alene School District 271. Throughout the summer, the kids enjoy a variety of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, special events, field trips, and swimming. This summer they can add financial education to the list thanks to a partnership with Get $mart Idaho and Horizon.
