Sound Credit Union Opens Bonney Lake Branch
Sound Credit Union opened a full service branch in Bonney Lake on SR 410E. Sound now has 12 branches throughout the Puget Sound area and serves any resident of Washington State.

WECU Buys Building
The Bellingham Business Journal
reported that WECU recently purchased the Meridian St. Value Village-owned building in Bellingham. Future plans for the property have not been announced.

Express Credit Union Approved for Outside Capital, Lauded for its Mission
The Puget Sound Business Journal
reported that Express Credit Union has received regulatory approval to accept capital from non-members. The story went on to discuss the credit union’s mission and the reasons behind it being one of the fastest growing credit unions in the state. Former Washington Credit Union League CFO Sharon Hall began her tenure as the credit union’s CEO Aug. 9. Express was previously managed by interim CEO Norma Hernandez and is supported by the Medina Foundation.

Tulip receives $9,000 Contribution from Auditor
Community development financial institution TULIP Cooperative Credit Union received a $9,000 contribution from its auditor Shannon & Associates to assist the credit union’s mission. The donation will pay for 90% of the credit union’s audit fee.

Lacamas CCU Promotes Winslow to Director

reported that Lacamas Community Credit Union promoted Tonya Winslow to director of member service.  Winslow has 15 years of credit union experience, the last three with Lacamas.

TwinStar’s Daukus to represent USA at WYCUP-Scotland
Scott Daukas, VP Operations and COO of TwinStar Credit Union recently  attended  the combined CUNA/WOCCU in Las Vegas, participated in the under 35-year-old program “WOCCU Young Credit Union People” (WYCUP)WYCUP and was awarded a trip to Scotland in 2011 after writing a series of answers to essay questions, supplying reference letters, exhibiting leadership potential, among other things.  Daukus will represent the United States at the WYCUP Glasgow Conference where he will participate as a presenter.  

Columbia Credit Union offers Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University
Columbia Credit Union is offering two fall sessions of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU). The program is reported as being a 13-week, life-changing program that teaches families to achieve their financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future and building wealth. Ramsey is a personal money management expert, author and popular radio personality.

Numerica Launches Financial Education Website ‘NumNum’
Numerica Credit Union recently introduced NumNum, a web site for young adults that features an ongoing video contest, a financial blog, and special events. Video submissions about the topic of money are the prime focus of the site. Each month, the creator of the best “money” video will receive a $50 cash prize. For each video submitted, Numerica will donate $10 to Spokane’s Crosswalk Teen Shelter.
