The Union Credit Union Liquidated
Statewide media began reporting last Friday that Spokane’s The Union Credit Union has been closed by regulators, a victim of the “unusually difficult times.” Numerica Credit Union took over The Union’s deposits and memberships, while Alaska USA Federal Credit Union assumed certain loans and assets.
Co-opapalooza Draws 200, Unites Co-ops
The Seattle Times recently reported that more than 20 cooperative organizations came together to show their wares and educate people about their business model. Organized by Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, the free fair was held on Capitol Hill and featured free food and snacks, and music by local artists.
YVCU Named Best Credit Union
The Yakima Valley Business Times has named Yakima Valley Credit Union Best of the Valley in a recent edition. This is the first time that credit unions have had their own category in the rankings, according to the story.
Scam Gets Thumbs Down
A recent phishing attack on WSECU’s members got the “Thumbs Down” in a recent opinion column of The Olympian. In the piece WSECU spokeswoman Ann Flannigan reminds consumers that giving out personal information over the phone is not wise saying, “No credit union is going to notify you in this manner.”
GESA Earns Honorable Mention for Environmental Commitment
GESA Credit Union recently earned an honorable mention for its environmental commitment for a new LEED certified branch at Richland’s Annual Green Recognition Programs Award, according to the Tri-Cities Herald.
