Chapter Awards Entry Deadline Set for August 6

The state’s credit union chapter presidents and boards should begin preparing to submit their applications to the Washington Credit Union League Chapter Excellence program to be considered for the 2010 Chapter of the Year.

Through the Excellence program, chapters have an opportunity to be recognized for community involvement, legislative activity, educational activities and cooperative development and promotion. Points are awarded for each activity and the highest score receives the Chapter of the Year Award.

According to Washington Credit Union League Vice President of Legislative Affairs Mark Minickiello, each year the scoring is very close, but ultimately comes down to the small things that chapters do.

“It’s important to not only tell us what an individual chapter did, but how they did it,” says Minickiello. “This means gathering supplemental materials that describe in general or specific terms the scope the chapter’s programs and any results that might have been achieved. Providing this material is the key to winning.”

The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 6. And, chapter presidents can expect a phone call from the League no later than July 30 reminding them to enter. It’s free and easy.  More information as well as the application form can be found at the Chapter Awards page on the League’s website.

Chapters may also contact League Director of Public Relations David Bennett at 800.552.0680 ext. 105.

Winners will be announced during the 2010 Washington Credit Union League Convention and Annual Business Meeting in September.
