Credit union professionals with questions about the new law won’t want to miss this free webinar because the new health care reform law will lead to significant changes in the benefits landscape and compliance requirements for credit unions.  The rules and expectations for employers are complex, and it may be challenging and risky to navigate them alone.

The June 29 webinar will deliver a comprehensive overview of the expectations this law places on employers, the risks of being out of compliance and practical steps to meet obligations the new law requires. It is intended to arm attendees with tools to assure timely compliance, grandfathering provisions and options to consider in this new environment.

According to CUNA Mutual, the Free Discovery Webinars are part of their ongoing commitment to education on issues impacting credit unions. The sessions are absolutely free and there is no cost to attend live sessions or to view the recordings.  Learn more about the free Discovery Webinar series on the series page.

CUNA Adds Additional Date for Free Reg. E Webcast
Due to an overwhelming response to its Reg. E webcasts, the Credit Union National Association has added a third date of broadcast: Thursday, June 17, at 11:30 a.m.  The second Webcast is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, at 11:30 a.m.

Presented by CUNA Strategic Services and John M. Floyd & Associates, the webinar will provide answers on how to implement a compliant overdraft solution.

As the deadline nears for implementation of Reg E restrictions on overdraft fees for ATM and debit card transactions, credit unions may have lingering questions:

  • Why are there two different deadlines – July 1 and August 15?
  • Is specific opt-in language required?
  • Who can you trust to provide answers to these and other questions?

Cheryl Lawson of John M. Floyd & Associates will provide valuable insight into how credit unions will be affected by Reg E’s “opt-in” requirement and the steps you should take now to address the situation. Plus, she will outline the options for protecting and even increasing your overdraft revenue.

Cheryl Lawson, EVP, Compliance Review at JMFA, has more than 30 years experience in global information technology and financial operations, consulting, communications, training and project management. She joined JMFA in 2001, rising from consultant to engagement manager to EVP-Implementation. She currently serves as compliance liaison for overdraft privilege and other profitability programs.  Her responsibilities also include sales support and administration for large financial institutions. Prior to joining JMFA, she was managing consultant for DACG and is credited with saving approximately $10 million with the introduction of high efficiency technology strategies.
