Credit Union Day at the Capitol is a proud tradition for Oregon's credit unions, a day when advocates blanket the Capitol campus and tell legislators from every corner of the state about the strength and potential of credit unions. Oregon's credit unions.
Our state legislators will be facing some tough decisions this year, and some people (like the bankers, for instance) tell them it’s unfair that credit unions don’t pay taxes—that credit unions should be taxed just like the banks are. If our legislators don’t know how we are structurally different than banks or about the great things we do for our members and our communities, then they will assume we are just like banks.
On March 13, Oregon Credit Union Day at the Capitol gives us a chance to spread the word about how credit unions are different—and why it matters. You don’t have to have any advocacy experience or any unusual qualifications. Members of the NWCUA Legislative Affairs team will brief you on all the latest issues and discuss talking points for the afternoon's visits with legislators. It only takes a few minutes to stop by your elected official's office and talk about your credit union, but you’ll leave an impression that lasts much longer.
We need advocates from across the state and from around the corner to converge on the Capitol on March 13 to fully display the strength of our numbers. We need you to truly make this event a success.
Click here to register. Give us your home address and we’ll arrange a 15-minute appointment with your local legislators.
