Credit unions are foundational to the Northwest economy, building financial strength in families and communities. Northwest credit unions benefit the economy and their six million member-owners in ways no other financial institutions can.

As not-for-profit cooperatives, Oregon and Washington credit unions last year delivered $528 million in direct benefits to their member-owners, provided more than 17,000 family-wage jobs and impacted the economy to the tune of $7.7 billion. Share the story!

Note: Data for Oregon and Washington credit unions only. A separate study to measure the economic impact of Idaho credit unions is being conducted in 2017.

ECONorthwest economists documented the $7.7 billion impact Northwest credit unions had on the economy, and the hundreds of millions of dollars in direct member benefits that only cooperative credit unions can return.
